Ladies Auxiliary President's Column

Dear Auxiliary Sisters,

I hope everyone is looking forward to 2012 with hope and happiness.  Our Auxiliary has another year to make a difference in the lives of our veterans and in our community.

The Auxiliary Bake and Craft Sale did well and many thanks to all who brought in their treasures and baked goods for sale.  We need to rethink how we present this event next year, so put on your “thinking caps” and let me know how we can make some constructive changes for next year.

Our Auxiliary ended our year with the very satisfying project of supplying Christmas dinner baskets and monetary gift cards to our seven families and 18 children at the Family Life Center.

Thanks to all who so generously donated to make the season a little brighter for these mothers and their children.

The Voice of Democracy Dinner, organized by Jane Hart and David Jensen, was a success. All but our number one candidate were available to give their essay at the dinner.  The Auxiliary will have their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 13. On Saturday, February 18th, we will again have the opportunity to join the Post for breakfast and program.

How much fun was the Hawaiian Night Dinner/Dance on January 20th!?!  Raffles, hula dancers, good orchestra, good food and beautiful decorations – how much more could you ask???

Be sure to make your reservation and bring that special person in your life, or just treat yourself; to our special Auxiliary Valentine Dinner/Dance on February 10th.  This dinner is our major fund raiser for our Cancer Aid & Research contribution.  Our Auxiliary has been very successful in supporting this very worthy national project.

The next District #5 meeting will be on February 19th at Fountain VFW Post 6461, with lunch at 1 P.M. and meeting at 2 P.M. Plan to attend this meeting.

And sure enough, St. Patrick’s Day is coming again!  We hope you will join us for a rollicking good time – a dinner of corned beef and cabbage, Irish music and Irish dancers on March 17th.  Hope to see you there!

We say Happy Birthday to all with February and March birthdays. And to all who have lost a loved one or are dealing with ill health, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Loyally,

Carol Knutson, President
